The mountains of Cyprus – Ceder forest

Finding your way in Cyprus is often not so easy. We realized that right after we had arrived trying to follow the instructions of the car rental guy to get to the hotel. No chance!
Here is an other typical example of what you can find a lot her. “All ways lead to Kato Pyrgos”. Signs like this you will find a lot here.

Our first stop was the Vasilikon vinery. The brothers Georgios and Yannis Kyriakides produce wine since 1993 in the village of Kathikas. You can meet the two enthusiasts at their premises and they will explain you all you need to know about their passion and wine making in general. Currently they are preparing new premises with a show room near the current location.

Visiting Vasilikon is certainly worth it. Trying their Methy wine is so too. Stored for 2 years in oak barrels and then 2 more years in bottled the wine is full bodied and has aromas of green pepper, capers and berries.

We were lucky with the weather. Not to hot, not to cold and always a bit of a breeze. Probably the best time oft the year to be up here.
