I discovered this recipe at the blog Bolliskitchen. It looked so tempting that I wanted to try it. Not only that I always wanted to do my own Creme Caramel, but the use of chestnut in caramel sauce seemed just too tempting. It is a bit of work to peel the chestnuts, but it is [...]

Having tried Petra’s cheesecake I was tempted to also try her Peanutbutter cake recipe. This peanut butter cake was again a great success. For those who like a light taste of peanut butter paired with cheese cake this is the ideal recipe. This easy recipe is easy to bake and the result is truly delicious.

Granita is a semi-frozen dessert of sugar, water, and flavourings. Common and traditional flavoring ingredients include lemon, coffee, almonds or mint. In Greece on the other hand you can find quite often sweet preserved vegetables like eggplant or tomato. I decided to create a fusion of the Italian Granita and the Greek tradition, the result [...]

This truly delicious cheese cake I discovered on Petras blog called “Chilli und Ciabata”. She has a nice selection of cakes there and this is the first of two I have tried. This cheese cake is not very sweet, though creamy and fresh due to the lemon curd that is mixed in. I often find [...]

Due to the hot weather and the availability of fabulous fruits on this little Greek island I got tempted to make some ice cream. I decided to use fresh peach. As I had never made ice cream before I was a bit nervous on how it would turn out. In the end I was very [...]

Reading the kali orexi blog once more I got inspired to try out a crossover of Greek and Indian cuisine. Using the greek keftedes and combining them with a spicy sweet sour Indian chutney seems very tempting to me.
As apricots are in season and you can find them at every corner at the moment, I [...]

Driving back from Sparti we came through a village called Kerassea (Kerassi is cherry in Greek). There, on the side of the road sat an old lady selling cherries and I could do nothing but stop. I bought three kilos of cherries from her. Today I had to use those juicy, fresh cherries instantly. I [...]

The Greeks are not known for their breakfast. They do not really eat breakfast this is as well the reason why you don’t really find breakfast in Greek coffee shops. Except in touristic coffee shops on touristic islands. Having said that, there are exceptions of course. One of them is the “keik” a soft cake.
As [...]
