The 4th mediterranean cooking event has ended and now the time has come to present the participants and their dishes. All of them did a great job in researching, cooking and presenting dishes from Croatia. You have the chance to vote for your favourite dish.

A tip for the participants: Linking to the voting usually helps!

The first dish to participate the contest is brought to us by Erbe in Cucina. It is a Croatian Salad with pickled Dill. A great salad for Mortadella lovers.

Domestic Divas meet up, has cooked for us a Sarma. This is stuffed cabage filled with a seasoned mix of pork, veal and beef. A delicious wintery dish featuring Sauerkraut.

Ruby has cooked us a Brodet. A chicken Brodet, to be precise. A Brodet is actually a a fish soup but she managed to find a recipe that features Brodet with chicken! This dish turns out like a stew, it is cooked in one pot only.

Island girl has cooked for us a classic and yummy dish. A Croatian Gulash. This is a dish with a strong Austrian – Hungarian influence and history that you can also find further north in the Alps

Crni rizot is an Octopus Risotto was brought to us by Joumana from Beirut. This delicious dish that originates from Dubrovnik.

Our travel through the mediterranean takes us up north tho the adriatic sea. Here lays Croatia, which is not only known for its landscape but also its cuisine. Interesting culinary influences meet here. Of course the Ottoman occupation left its traces but also the Austrian-Hungarian empire as well as the the Romans and the Greeks. In modern time the French and the Italian influenced the cullinary landscape of this magnifficant country.
