Biftekia – Μπιφτέκια – Greek burgers

Nothing better than burgers, but they have to be juicy. There are many theories on how to get them juicy. Some of then have to do with the frying or grilling process, others with the mixture of the ingredients. My secret ingredient is the apple.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

frying time: 10 minutes

difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 500 gram ground beef
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 apple
  • 1 egg
  • 2 pieces of friganies, rusks
  • Oregano
  • some olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Preparation:

Chop the onion finely and put it into a bowl with the meat. Shred the apple and add it to the bowl.
Crush the rusk finely and add it to the meat. Add the egg and mix all well. Season with oregano, salt and pepper. Form burgers and fry them on each side 4 to 5 minutes.

    I expected anything after reading the title except to see apple listed as your secret ingredient! I am so intrigued that I am keeping a mental note to try this as soon as possible! The photo is beautiful and makes me want to devour them.

    By the way, I am now in Lebanon and better able to assist you; what type of products are you looking for? and -I am dying to know this- why Lebanon? does’n't Greece offer a plethora of foodstuffs?
